About John Feheley Horsemanship.
Horses have been a part of my life for the last 50 years.
The last 20 have been the most exciting.
I have ridden in Horsemanship and Colt Starting clinics with Ray Hunt, Richard Thompson, Don Halliday, Bert Elstob, Larry Stewart, Christine Anderson, Brad Cameron, John Lyons, Tom Curtin, and audited lots more.
The last 20 years have been a journey of learning how to produce a “Broke and Soft “ horse suitable for the hunter/jumper show ring with a amateur or professional, or eventing to high levels or the hunt field for the weekend warrior.
My program usually starts with solid groundwork to build a base for a manageable horse that will lead softly in their own space, load on a trailer and stand quietly to be trimmed and shod.
Under saddle training is teaching leg cues, lateral work, turn on the haunches and turn on the forehand, leg yields, side passes and leads. This training is suitable for any horse in any discipline. I want collection that drives from the quarters and rounds the back with a relaxed jaw and poll. No brace, no rigid jaw, no hollow back, no defensive posture. No quick fixes. It takes the time it takes.
There is a old Vaquero saying that it takes 5 lifetimes to become a horseman.
Come with us and enjoy the journey. 647-504-2070 |
