Full Time Live In Position The following is a general outline of what will be required as part of your work description: MORNING: Start approx 7am Opening up barn, turning on lights, general observation of facility to make sure everything is up and running accordingly. Feeding horses grain, administering medications to those who need it, quick assessment of all horses. Running hay out to all paddocks. General paddock cleaning, picking up old hay, cleaning out hay racks. Checking safety of all perimeters. Preparing horses for turn out, blanketing in winter months, removing any bandages, applying boots, fly mask, fly spray or any other seasonal items clients require. Then take out to designated paddocks. Start mucking out stalls. Dump water pails and scrub before refilling. Add shavings to stalls needing it. Putting hay into stalls for dinner. Make up dinner grains. AFTERNOON: General barn tidying: level arena, cobwebs, clean viewing room, stable management. In summer months there will be grounds keeping that will require grass cutting and some weed trimming. DINNER: Finish approx 4:30pm Turn horses in, remove blankets, fly mask, boots, etc or whatever was applied for morning turnout. Feed grain to those whom need it along with administering any medication needed. During the summer months most horses stay out until night check so there may not be much to do at dinner time. You may have to touch up hay racks outside and check water levels. NIGHT CHECK: Start approx 8pm Mon-Fri, 7pm on weekend During winter months since horses are in earlier there will be another pick out of manure and urine but it goes quickly. Touch up water pails inside and feed more hay. Feed grain and making up next mornings grain. Final walk thru barn to make sure all horses are settled, lock all doors, turn off all lights and retire for evening.
The barn has 19 stalls which there will be 18 filled as of march 1st. We are looking for someone to cover 6 days and 6 nights. This is a full time live in position. You will have a completely self contained apartment with laundry facilities. Furniture is not supplied. No pets or smoking will be allowed in apartment. We are looking for a long term commitment. Space for parking of one vehicle available and if you require a stall for a horse that can be arranged. Our clients are a mix of disciplines, some dressage, hunter, pleasure and western.
