16.1 7yo OTTB gelding with 5 years of english riding experience. Has had dressage training, been in a few clinics and had a lot of lessons, he leg yields, extends and collects, has done a lot of poles and some cross rails. He turns off the outside rein and can spiral in and out of circles.Travels in a frame walk, trot, canter and moves off your leg. I have ponied off of him and he was very good for that. He has had a western saddle on and he absolutely loves going on trail rides.
Excellent for farrier, taking meds, bathing, trailering, etc. He is used to a busy environment and is good with dogs and doesn't spook at deer or cows on the trail. He has a puppy dog personality and absolutely loves itches and being brushed.
He was kicked over the winter and had a tendon injury which is now healed. He is completely sound. He has bucked probably seven times over the last four years. Once when he was three, then a couple of times in the winter two years ago - i suspect he was sore somehow but not sure - then when he had the tendon injury and i didn't notice it he bucked twice. Hasn't been sore or bucked since.
He was born in California, raced there and in Winnipeg. My Dad owned him as a racehorse and gave him to me and i had him boarded in Ontario while i lived there. He's used to indoor arenas and is fine with new environments. More looky but he isn't generally spooky. He is much happier when he's living in a pasture as he builds a lot of energy if he's in a small paddock or stall - which i suspect contributed to the bucking, too much energy built up and an irritant to get mad about. He lives well with mares and geldings. He is either top of the herd or close depending on the dynamic. |
